Call for Films

17th EASA Biennial Conference
EASA2022: Transformation, Hope and the Commons
School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics at Queen’s University Belfast
26-29 July, 2022

The European Association of Social Anthropologists invites anthropological and documentary film submissions to be screened during its 17th Biennial Conference, which will be held in a hybrid format online and at Queens University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from the 26th to the 29th of July 2022.

This year’s conference theme is “Transformation, Hope and the Commons”. This theme opens a space to explore engagements with past and future, how individuals and groups experience continuities and frictions and the ways in which hope, change and creativity are perceived as guidance and capability. In line with the wider theme of the conference, we thus encourage submissions of anthropological films from a wide variety of cinematographic methods and approaches that stimulate a reflexive and undogmatic analysis of political, economic and environmental narratives, calling also for new types of authorships or sociocultural expressions.
