Seventh International Postgraduate Summer School “CULTURES, MIGRATIONS, BORDERS” - Kind Reminder
We would like to kindly remind you, shortly before the end of applications,= that the Department of Social Anthropology and History of the University o= f the Aegean and the Institute of Migration and Ethnic Studies of the Unive= rsity of Amsterdam still welcome applications for the Seventh International= Postgraduate Summer School =93CULTURES, MIGRATIONS, BORDERS=94 that will t= ake place on the border island of Lesvos,Greece, from 3 to 12 July 2018.
The Summer School aims at bringing together students and researchers in hum= anities and social sciences with an interest in borders and migration. The = program is designed to combine theoretical instruction by academic research= ers who had made important contributions to the field of migration and bord= er studies with various on-site activities.
The North Eastern Aegean island of Lesvos provides an ideal location for ho= lding this Summer School, as it is currently one of the most important gate= s of immigrants and refugees to Greece and Europe and the site of a massive= humanitarian intervention. The Summer School takes place at the height of = the =91European Refugee Crisis=92 and in times of radical transformation an= d the reconfiguration of borders in national and international levels. The = program aims to address political, ethical, methodological and theoretical = questions in this challenging landscape.
