The School for International Studies at Simon Fraser University invites applications for the Simons Foundation Canada Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the 2026-27 academic year, with the possibility of reappointment for a second year.

Simon Fraser University (SFU) is a leading Canadian public university, consistently ranked #1 by Maclean’s Magazine for best comprehensive university in Canada. The School for International Studies is an interdisciplinary unit with research and teaching programs focused on peace and security; international development; human rights and international law; and governance and civil society. The School is based at SFU’s downtown Vancouver Harbour Centre campus. The expectations are for the Fellow to be in residence as they pursue their own program of research and participate in School activities, including delivering at least one presentation of their work in progress at the School’s internal colloquium series. The Fellow will also teach one course in their area of expertise. The fellowship provides $70,000 CAD plus

benefits. Fellows must have successfully defended their PhD by the application submission deadline of December 8, 2025 with their degree conferred by the end of 2025. Applicants should not be more than three years beyond their degree although special circumstances will be considered. Recipients of the Simons Foundation Canada Postdoctoral Fellowship may not hold concurrent fellowships or other jobs during their tenure with SFU.
