Reviews in Anthropology
Reviews in Anthropology, a long-standing journal dedicated to critically reviewing developments in anthropology, invites submissions of proposals for an annual special issue to be published for the first time in 2026.
This special issue aims to provide a critical and synthetic overview of recent developments in anthropology, either in a specific world region or within a particular thematic or disciplinary domain, engaging with one or more of the discipline’s subfields: sociocultural anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, and linguistic anthropology.
Proposals are especially encouraged to:
- Offer an integrative and critical perspective on the chosen topic or area.
- Include contributions from various institutions, geographic locations, and career stages.
- Propose linkages across subfields or scales of analysis (local/global, micro/macro).
- Engage with contemporary debates relevant to anthropology and its broader scholarly and public impact.
Proposals should include:
- A tentative title for the special issue.
- A summary (500–800 words) outlining the dossier’s thematic focus, rationale, disciplinary relevance, and goals.
- A preliminary list of contributions (minimum 5, maximum 7), including authors’ names, affiliations, and tentative titles. The articles composing the proposals are expected to be Book Review articles, the kind of work published by Reviews in Anthropology.
- A short biographical note for each guest editor (300 words each).
- A tentative timeline for the special issue (including submission, review, and final delivery dates).
