Economic Anthropology is seeking to appoint 2–3 new members to its editorial board.

The EASA Network: Anthropology of Economy is seeking 2–3 new members for its active editorial board. Board members are responsible for managing the peer review process and can expect to oversee 5–10 article manuscripts per year.

While open to any sub-field and topic, the board especially welcomes expressions of interest from scholars with expertise in biological or bio-cultural anthropology, applied anthropology, and/or linguistic anthropology.

Role responsibilities

Editorial board members should be willing and able to:

  • Oversee the review process for 5–10 manuscripts per year
  • Synthesize reviewer feedback and guide authors through revisions
  • Attend periodic editorial board meetings
  • Meet review and publication deadlines
  • Respond in a timely manner to journal-related communications
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the journal
  • Support additional editorial initiatives, such as policy drafting, outreach, or recruitment

Application materials

  1. Confirmation of a PhD in some field of anthropology or a related discipline, or evidence of original research in the field
  2. A list (max. 10 items) of your topical, theoretical, or methodological areas of expertise
  3. A response (max. 300 words) to one of the following:
    • Why would you like to join the editorial board of Economic Anthropology?
    • What is an idea that Economic Anthropology should write less about?
    • What weight should reviewer reports have in editorial decisions?
  4. A writing sample (maximum: one academic article or two book chapters)
