Deadline: 15 Aug 2025
Affiliation: European Association of Social Anthropologists

EASA is currently looking to appoint a communications officer with a starting date of 1 September 2025.

Are you an anthropology PhD / postdoc / precarious anthropologist based at a European institution (or a communications specialist with consistent anthropology training)…

… with experience in social media communications across multiple platforms (Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky, etc.)?

… with a time availability of 20 hours per month (5 hours per week)?

… with a vision consistent with EASA’s values, and brimming with ideas to further develop our communications strategy and platforms?

… passionate about public anthropology, communicating research and engaging broader audiences through accessible and dynamic formats?

Your key tasks would include:

  • Maintenance of EASA’s existing social media platforms (Facebook, X (Twitter), Bluesky, LinkedIn) through periodic posting of newsworthy items for EASA members and the public at large
  • Development of an EASA Instagram and / or Tiktok account
  • Contribution to EASA’s communication strategy in accordance with EASA’s values and principles

EASA offers a monthly remuneration of €500 on a subcontracting basis (i.e. this is not an employment contract; the remuneration will be paid against an invoice submitted monthly). The duration is initially limited to two years, and there is a probation period of 3 months.

In cases where candidates present comparable qualifications and experience, EASA will give priority to individuals from historically marginalised groups, including persons with disabilities and LGBTQ+ applicants, in line with our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Please send your cover letter (max 2 pages) and CV, including links to social media portfolios that you have successfully developed and / or managed previously, as well as your vision to enhance EASA’s social media presence, to secretary@easaonline.org, before 15 August 2025. An interview with shortlisted candidates will take place shortly after.
