Funded PhD position(s) to work on Anthropology, Artificial Intelligence
(AI), mapping, and Amazon forest. Funding includes graduate assistantship
support for 4 years and summer funding for field research and stipends.
Required qualifications:
1. A master’s degree in anthropology or closely related field;
2. Proficiency in English and Portuguese;
3. Experience collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data in
the social sciences, using common software applications;
4. Professional competencies, including: strong communication and
interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively, and ability to
travel to forest communities in the Brazilian Amazon.
Preferred qualifications:
5. Experience working across disciplines in the natural and social sciences;
6. Knowledge of Amazon forest conservation and environmental/climate
changes;
7. Knowledge of environmental/carbon footprints of AI, human-AI
collaboration, and GIS analysis; OR, knowledge of geospatial science, and
crowd-sourced mapping;
8. Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including forest and/or
indigenous communities in the Brazilian Amazon.
