Currently, more than fifty countries seek to expand their maritime frontiers based on technoscience and international legal precepts. There is an epic and fabulous side to this new expansionist era as it happens out of sight, in the darkness of the ocean depths. Machines and robots, but also imagination and hope invade places that once belonged to no one. Starting from the Portuguese odyssey in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean and the country’s territorial claims, Abissal also plunges into the abyss faced by humanity writ large.
