Election of new EASA exec members: Call for candidates

The term of office of the elected members of the present Executive Committee of EASA is coming to an end. We invite applications from EASA members to stand for election as Trustees.

EASA is a self-governing democratic body. The EASA Executive is made up of seven EASA members, five of whom are elected on a biennial basis. The composition of successive Executive Committees shows the pan-European character and remit of EASA. All eligible members are strongly encouraged to consider standing for election in order to support a flourishing and scholarly society and European discipline.

Candidates must be a resident of Europe or primarily affiliated with a European institution, and their candidature must be supported by two members. Student members have the right to vote in elections for the Trustees, but not to stand for election as Trustees.

Applications (with nominations) should be submitted to the Secretary, Jonas Tinius via this form by the midnight (CET) of the 30th of November 2026. The application form asks for full name, name of the EASA members nominating and supporting the candidate, a short statement of motivation (<250 words), and a portrait photo.

Current Trustee roles include President, Vice-President, Networks Liaison, Publications Liaison, Lobbying, the Mentoring Programme and participation in EASA’s Working Groups. Other key tasks include overseeing the biennial conference, defending members’ interests (for instance by investigating working conditions in the academy and lobbying against precarity), working with other European associations, and promoting the association and the discipline more broadly. The Exec holds regular online meetings and meets in person once a year. Everyday business is conducted via email and an instant messaging platform.

EASA is registered with the UK’s Companies House and with the Charity Commission. As such it is bound by its constitution, relevant laws and EASA adheres to guidance on proper governance.

Any interested members who would like to know more about the job or the nomination process are free to contact the Secretary (secretary(at)easaonline.org), or other current executive committee members whose email addresses can be obtained from the EASA Exec profile pages.

The deadline for submitting applications is midnight (CET) of the 30th November 2026. The list of candidates will be published shortly after, with an online vote taking place from 14 December until 15 January. The results will be made available immediately after. The handover meeting for the new Executive Committee will take place in early spring 2027 in Aarhus, and it is expected that elected candidates will be available to attend the meeting.
