EASA2026 in Poznań – looking back with huge thanks!

As summer draws to a close and many of us begin settling back into our usual rhythms, we’re taking a moment to look back at an extraordinary few days in Poznań.

EASA2026 “Anthropology: Possibilities in a Polarised World” was a hybrid conference held from 21 to 24 July 2026 at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. A total of 2,043 delegates took part in a wonderfully rich and varied programme of 194 panels, 24 roundtables, 18 laboratories, 12 films and 1 lightning panel.

A conference of this scale is only possible thanks to a truly collective effort. Our heartfelt thanks go first to our fantastic, one-and-only Local Committee, whose enthusiasm, care and energy made EASA2026 what it was – and who introduced us to their beautiful city with such generosity. We are equally grateful to the Scientific Committee, who took on the formidable task of selecting from such an abundance of excellent proposals and shaping the programme that brought us together.

Thank you, too, to all our hard-working volunteers, whose help and good humour kept things moving throughout the conference; to our sponsors and partners for their generous support; and, of course, to our main guests: the 2,043 delegates who filled the rooms, corridors, cafés and online spaces with conversations, questions, ideas and encounters.

EASA2026 was, above all, made by the people who participated in it. Thank you for bringing your work, curiosity, disagreements, collaborations and enthusiasm to Poznań – and for making the conference such a vibrant space for thinking together about the possibilities of anthropology in a polarised world.

We hope you have had some time, since July, to pause, recharge or simply catch your breath. Now, as we head into the new academic year, we’re delighted to begin sharing some of the highlights and memories from EASA2026.
