Dear All,
After the long summer break, we are delighted to resume our CSP Online Lecture Series 2025-2026!
We warmly invite you to join us on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, from 6:00 to 7:15 pm CEST (UTC+2) for a presentation entitled “Why Safety is Fatal” by Prof. David Napier (University College London).
“Moments of social crisis require significantly higher levels of risk-taking with the unknown than do moments of social stability. Spirituality can seem like a luxury when making personal meaning is mediated by calamity coping and high levels of social anxiety and mistrust. In this talk, I will discuss what I see as key psychosocial challenges to contemporary meaning-making—how they emerge, what they look like, and what they suggest about contemporary spirituality. In particular, I will explain why I believe that ‘symbiotic risk’ provides a vehicle for creating and sustaining new forms of spiritual meaning.”
Like all our CSP Online Lectures, this event is free and open to everyone.
