Professor and Chair of the Department of Anthropology and Ethnology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Senior Professor at the European University Viadrina. Former President of EASA (2009-11). He has been a fellow and visiting professor at several universities, including the Universities of Cambridge, California, Virginia, Kansas, and Columbia, as well as the IAS in Budapest and the National Institute of Humanities in Osaka. His work focuses on postsocialist transformations, xenophobia and racialization, and hierarchies of knowledge. He has published and edited several books and more than two hundred articles in English and Polish.
