The Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) is offering a post-doctoral research position for 12 months as part of Work Package 2 of the research project funded by FAPESP/UKRI entitled “Finance on the Periphery: Credit market expansion and responses from urban and rural communities in Brazil”. WP2 focuses on analyzing the credit market for small-scale farmers in Tocantins state (Brazil). They will conduct fieldwork in northern Tocantins, São Paulo, Brasília, and Rio de Janeiro, engaging with financial institutions that drive the expansion of rural credit. Additionally, they will develop an original analytical framework based on a comparative matrix of research data regarding the distinct characteristics and effects of the financialization of agribusiness in Tocantins.

Mandatory requirements

1) PhD in Social Anthropology; 2) Experience in ethnographic research in the Central-West, North or Northeast of Brazil; 3) Work in the field of financialization of agribusiness, evidenced by academic publications in the area.
