Arrival – where to go and when?
If you arrive on Monday and would like to beat the Tuesday morning rush, we are running an early registration desk from 13:00 – 18:00 at the Collegium Historicum in the Morasko Campus. This will also allow you to grab a badge early and make use of your free city pass and discounts.
When travelling into campus for the first time (before receiving your badge), trams are on a tap-in system with debit/credit cards (no need to tap-out). You’ll need to find the ticket terminal in the tram – not the smaller orange ones by the doors, but larger smart screens with lots of timed options to select, and then tap your card. Paper tickets can be also bought at the airport, if cards are not convenient for you, or by a ticket online via https://jakdojade.pl/poznan
If arriving on Tuesday and your panel isn’t on that day, we recommend going to your accommodation first, leaving your luggage, and then coming to the conference venue to check-in, thus avoiding the stressed crowd waiting to check in as early as they can. If you have time, it might be worth going for a walk around the campus to get your bearings.
If your panel IS on Tuesday, make sure you come to check in from 10:30 to 13:30 so that you’ll be ‘badged’ by the time you need to start looking for your panel room. As this is the first day of the conference please be aware that there will most likely be queues at the registration desk.
Bring a USB or another portable device to transfer your presentation files on the day. You cannot use your own laptop to present!
What to bring?
Bring a USB or another portable device to transfer your presentation files on the day. You cannot use your own laptop to present!
Weather: By current predictions the heatwave should have broken during the conference week and there will be multiple days when it might rain. Make sure to bring some waterproof clothes/umbrella but do not overdress, as overall the temperatures are still expected to be mostly warm in the low to mid 20 C.
Cash: Most cards are accepted in most places; however, having some złoty to hand is recommended.
Formal clothing: the final party will be at the amazing ZAMEK Castle Cultural Centre. No black tie required, although any expression of free spirit, elegance and panache are encouraged. Whatever you wear, make sure it stretches enough for a jaunty pirouette or at least a swift spin…
Adapter: Those not from the EU should bring an adaptor for the EU standard electrical sockets (two-pole, round-pin domestic). Remember to bring chargers for all your various devices (and perhaps a battery bank), as you’ll need this to navigate the online programme – we will be giving out the (very few) printed programme only to delegates with no smart phones/access to roaming.
Panels, meetings and plenary events
Please use the EASA2026 timetable page to navigate the conference content. For a quick reference as to when, where and how long a particular panel is, check the ‘Panels’ view in the timetable.
As the conference is hybrid and everything happens simultanously also in Zoom, presenters and convenors cannot use their own laptops for presenting – all files must be transferred onto the room’s PC.
The conference main venue where you will find the registration desk, panels, labs and roundtables will be split over three neighbouring faculty buildings at the Morasko Campus (as shown on the image below):
(A) Collegium Historicum (Wydział Historii UAM), ul.Uniwersytetu Poznańskiego 7, 61-614 Poznań
(B) Collegium Politicum (Wydział Nauk Politycznych i Dziennikarstwa UAM), ul.Uniwersytetu Poznańskiego 5, 61-614 Poznań
(C) Collegium Biologicum (Wydzial Biologii UAM), ul.Uniwersytetu Poznańskiego 6, 61-614 Poznań
For plenaries and keynotes, we will move to the Collegium Minus, one of Poznań’s most iconic academic buildings in the historic centre – an occasion to enjoy the old city’s heritage and vibe. There are frequent tram connections available for the daily journey from the Morasko Campus to Collegium Minus.
The nearest tram stop to the Morasko Campus is “Osiedle Sobieskiego”, while the “Most Teatralny” tram stop offers the most convenient access to Collegium Minus – as well as only slightly more remote tram stops “Fredry”, “Rondo Kaponiera” or “Zamek”.
Don’t forget to carry your conference badge always with you, accompanied by your ID. Badge+ID work as your free city pass and entitle you to free travel on public transport in Poznań.
For an overview of all the conference locations please consult the conference map put together by Aleksandra Krzyzaniak from the local committee team.
WiFi
Eduroam is available for those from European institutions, and you can access it the usual way.
For those without European Eduroam, the University will be providing free eduroam accounts to all delegates throughout the conference.
Everyone will receive the following email on Sunday, 19 July:
Title: “Przyznano gościnny dostęp do Internetu”
From: “Uniwersytet im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu “
The email will contain personalised login credentials and must not be shared with others.
To use the credentials, please connect to the “eduroam” wireless connection found on campus. You will receive a login request to your device.
The access will expire on Saturday, 25 July.
If you already have eduroam, disregard the email and access your institutional eduroam as normal.
Online access to panels
No links will be sent out to participants. The buttons to enter panels for virtual particpation are within the timetable and/or panel pages and are visible only to logged-in, paid-up delegates. So one must log in to see and click on the entry links.
Panel Zooms will be displayed beneath the panels’ date/time as a button saying “Enter the virtual room” – click to enter the Zoom. If you are attending the conference virtually, please click on the Online Guide link below to read in more detail how it all works.
EASA2026 Reception desk and conference office (NomadIT) opening hours
The Reception desk will be located on the ground floor of the Collegium Historicum (Wydział Historii UAM), at the Morasko Campus.
When checking in, a team of helpful volunteers in conference t-shirts will verify your registration and, if all is in order, give you your badge (with the party ticket, if you’ve bought one – printed on as a dance icon 👯).
Please note – we have printed a very small number of programmes for use for those delegates with no smart phones or without access to roaming services. Please do not ask for a programme if you do not actually need one!
Reception desk opening hours
Mon: 13:00-18:00, Tue: 10:30-18:30, Wed: 08:00-15:00, Thu: 08:00-15:00, Fri: 08:00-15:00
Please not that you will not be able to check in at the Reception desk before it opens or after it has closed.
If you are yet to settle the fees: PLEASE, pretty please – try to do that prior to 21 July by card or inform us as soon as possible of the special circumstances why you need to pay at the conference in cash.
Those needing to settle their membership or conference fees will need to come to the Conference organisers’ (NomadIT) office in Room 1.63 (on the ground floor, close to Reception), they can receive their book and badge from the Reception desk only after the debt is settled. The office is small and full of harassed Nomads, so for the sake of public health, safety and hygiene we implore you to all settle the fees before the event…
Seeing the city
The local committee has procured for EASA delegates free city passes and provides access to exclusive discounts by presenting your conference badge. For a description of all this gives access to please consult the website.
On top of that, Visit Poznań has produced a page especially for the conference to help those interested in exploring different sites. For information on how to get around in Poznań, we have a page laying out all the travel options in the city as well as options on how to get to the city.
Those presenting
Please have any files you wish to present on your portable device (like a USB), and bring to your panel room 15 minutes before the session, to upload and check. There will be a student volunteer team member present to assist, helpful Nomads hovering over them – all will be well. Those of you wanting to present from Macs must bring those special adaptors!
For further info and final checks have a look at the presenter guidelines.
Those convening/chairing
Please be a little early for the start of your panel as your colleagues will want to upload their presentations. Each room has a computer with a camera and a microphone, connected to a projector and speakers. In larger rooms there may be additional microphones (lapel or ceiling). Only the desktop computers can be used by presenters and convenors to run presentations – not personal laptops. The volunteer will start the session’s Zoom on the desktop. All f2f presenters using a PowerPoint, etc. should share screen within Zoom so online delegates can see.
Strict time-keeping is crucial to a good conference, and is one of your responsibilities – please ensure each presenter gets their fair share of the time, and do not overrun into the breaks. We have placed a laminated sheet in each room with some ‘Guidelines’ on chairing which we’d ask you to read, and perhaps even follow.

Timing of papers/sessions
Each panel/workshop session slot will be 105 minutes long, accommodating a maximum of five presenters. Convenors should allot each presenter a maximum of 15+5 mins for panels of five papers. However if the panel is a Lightning panel, it may accept more than five presentations within a session (up to 10).

Childcare information
If you have signed up for childcare you can find the childcare space set up in the library of the Collegium Historicum. The hours that the service is offered are presented below:

Wednesday 22 July 8:40 -13:35
Thursday 23 July 8:40 – 13:35

Catering
The conference is fully catered, with tea / coffee refreshment breaks inbetween panels, and lunch in the middle of the day.
Catering is vegetarian; with vegan, gluten free, and lactose free options. Your badge will indicate to the catering team your dietary needs, so remember to keep this visible!
Yellow: Gluten free
Vegan: Green
Allergies: Pink
Those with allergies or complex dietary needs will be emailed separately, but be sure to remember to go to Collegium Politicum to collect your lunch, as these will be there.
Labs
EASA2026 conference once again includes a great array of Laboratories. As Labs often involve a limited number of participants/attendees, we recommend booking your place with the lab convenors and reading up on the planned activities.
There are labs happening at the faculty buildings and outside, some are in a room and others are outside walking: make sure you have a good look at the timetable to not miss out on interesting content and to assess how much time it takes to move between different locations!
At the event: please don’t feel discouraged from trying to attend a lab during the conference even if you didn’t pre-register as sometimes pre-registered colleagues do not turn up, but be aware that this format has some restrictions and do not be upset if there’s no place.
Events and meetings
As ever, the EASA conference will offer plenty of stimulating academic events, business meetings and entertainment that can all be seen here – there will be Network meetings on Wednesday and Friday afternoons to bring together people working in specific fields within anthropology (new members welcome!).
On Wednesday evenings there are many side events including multiple city walks, a play, an ethnographic film evening and a stand up comedy open mic so make sure not to double book yourself.
Thursday is particularly busy with events in the middle of the day, so we highly recommend planning that day ahead, and checking on spaces available for those with limited seats before you head over!
Film programme
The EASA2026 film call has curated a selection of 27 accepted films all engaged with the theme in diverse and engaging ways. Please peruse the list of films on the film site and note the times to make the most of your conference participation.
The main film programme will take place in the Historicum building in Room 2.122. The Ethnographic Film Evening – Special Screening EASA2026 will be a separate event happening in Centrum Kultury Zamek, Święty Marcin 80/82.

🧘Some final words of advice…
It’s the busiest summer period for travel, so we hope it is as smooth as it can be for you! Remember a few things:
- Warsaw airport has very long passport lines and few bathrooms, so we advise you plan around this eventuality if you are flying through there
- It’s very warm as the whole of Europe is going through a heat wave, so remember to pack a re-usable water bottle
- The conference inbox is very busy right now, so we may take a day or two to reply this week. As we are working hard to get to each query, please refrain from emailing multiple times about the same query, as this risks slowing down the team and causing delays for others.
- This is a massive conference, with lots of moving parts. There will be queues, there may be moments of chaos, but we do ask you to please remain kind and supportive at all times: of each other, of the caterers, of the volunteers, and of the administrators.
Travel safely to Poznan – or to your screen! – we are looking forward to welcoming you to the conference!
Yours,
Carlotta – with the ground team of Aksel, Alix, Barbara, Daniel, David, Douglas, Fionnuala, Johann Sander, Kristjan, Mo, Morgan, Piibe, Sebastian, Triinu, Winfred and the online team of Albert, Ambrose, Eric, Jaan, James, Leenu, Mirjam, Nora, Olivia, Sandra, Suzy, Wamaitha
