Women Doing Fieldwork
Photo Contest
WAU 2025 Congress
Info/ Photo Series Registration: https://filmfreeway.com/WAU2025CongressPhoto
Deadline: May 31, 2025
For decades, a limited vision of who "should" be doing fieldwork has erased and made invisible women anthropologists and social scientists. This limited vision has resulted in a lack of recognition for the photographic record of women doing fieldwork, and their image has not become a common symbol in the public understanding of social science disciplines.
The WAU 2025 Congress Photo Contest seeks to highlight the importance of women in fieldwork, to reverse decades of invisibility in photographic repositories, and to provide images that show the diversity of scientific work by women social scientists, especially anthropologists.
Rules of the Photo Contest:
-
Participants: any person of legal age (18 years old +) may participate with a series of photographs whose central theme is fieldwork carried out by women in social sciences, especially anthropologists.
-
Series Format: the series must include between three (3) and five (5) photographs.
-
Description of the Series: each series should include a summary of up to 250 words.
