The Art of Observation - If anthropologists are masters of the art of observation, then what kind of art can their observations inspire?

Discover "The Art of Observation", an exhibition featuring editorial illustrations created by artists inspired by short public anthropology articles. The exhibition builds a bridge between academia and art and highlights the transformative power of the two fields, as well as the interdisciplinary collaboration. Behind each article there is often ethnographic research work spanning several years. In a way, it could be said that at the heart of this exhibition there is a cumulative body of work spanning hundreds of years - an atypical endeavour in a world increasingly dominated by speed and quick results.

Field/Works II - Generating Ecologies of Trust. Call for Submissions is open.

The European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) is encouraging members to participate online and digitally to the conference this year. As part of the online activities, the convenors of EASA are delighted to announce a call for artworks for the online exhibition project, Field/Works II: Generating Ecologies of Trust, curated by ANTART members Maxime Le Calvé and Jen Clarke. We invite artist-anthropologists to submit multi-modal works that resonate with the theme. Submissions are due 14 June, 2024.

Childcare at EASA2024
A professional childcare service (https://www.meseducacio.coop/) will be offered for children aged 3-12. It will be available at the university facilities during the panel sessions on Tuesday 23, Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 and Friday 26. Parents who are planning to use the service are requested to book in advance, and to leave a €30 refundable deposit (no cancellation refund).

Architecture Of An Arch
An installation that explores another model of spatial limit from the trace our body leaves on the ground when it relates with other bodies — human or not. In a participatory workshop, you will build and experience cardboard architectures that arise from that conversation between bodies, exploring if and how they affect your behaviour and perception of your body.

Phishing Scam Alert
There are phishing emails circulating this year pretending to be a conference accommodation booking service. This appears to be a widespread problem, impacting a number of conferences this summer.
We do NOT book accommodation for conference delegates, so please delete these emails on receipt and do not, under any circumstances, share your card details.
The scammers appear to be using several email addresses such as support(at)gtravelmanagement.com, sometimes hidden behind a conference-related name. All genuine conference communication will originate from easaonline.org email addresses only: conference(at)easaonline.org; membership(at)easaonline.org; registration(at)easaonline.org
NB! This is not a data breach - the phishers appear to be picking off the names of accepted authors on the conference website and then finding email addresses on institutional websites.

The call for panels and the calls for papers, labs, films and young scholar awards are closed. The calls for proposals received a record 3800 proposals.

Convenors have marked up decisions and the transfer process will take place from 19 February, the selection of films will be announced in April. Due to the conference being oversubscribed, we are unfortunately unable to accept late proposals.

The Ethnographic Salon The Ethnographic Salon is a creative lab that features experimentation and performative exchange of artistic work-in-progress inspired by field experiences that ill-fit academic writing and theorizing. The aim of the Ethnographic Salon is to inspire innovation in ways that surprise and transform the discipline.
