Dear VANEASA members!

This year’s VANEASA network meeting will take place on 13-14 May in Vienna! It will be hosted by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology on 13-14 May and will include a joint visit to the ethnocineca International Documentary Film Festival Vienna (8-14 May).

Please register for the event as soon as possible, at least before 25 April 2025.

To help us with the planning, please indicate if you will participate in:

• the joint visits to ethnocineca on Day 1 (13 May)
• the network meetings at the University of Vienna on Day 2 (14 May)
• the EASA networks reception at WUK on Day 2 (14 May), 18:00 – 20:00

Registered participants of the VANEASA network meeting will receive free entrance passes for ethnocineca on 13 May.

• 19:00 – 23:00 Film screenings and discussions

Wednesday, 14 May – meetings at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna

• 9:00 Welcome with coffee
• 09:30 – 12:00 Meet and greet: Visual Anthropologists in Europe
• 12:30 – 13:30 Lunch in a nearby café
• 14:00 – 15:30 Discussion about the network’s future
• 15:30 – 17:00 Break & 20-minute walk to WUK (Werkstätten- und Kulturhaus)
• 17:00 – 18:00 Joint visit to the ZOZAN arts-based research exhibition at WUK
• 18:00 – 20:00 Reception at WUK

For the reception on 14 May (18-20 o’clock), we are joining together with members of the EASA Media Anthropology Network and the EASA Multimodal Anthropology Network!
