Embodied Filmmaking Workshop "Bodies of Water" - August 2024

Dear all,
Apologies for cross-posting. Please see below for our second rendition of
the embodied documentary filmmaking course, "Bodies of Water": a four week
experimental documentary workshop with IMPRINT Documentary Collective, open
to researchers, filmmakers, artists, and practitioners of all filmmaking
experience.

------

EMBODIED DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKING: BODIES OF WATER
1, 8, 15, 22 August, Online
(for women, trans, and non-binary participants)

Embodied Documentary is an evolving, experimental process of filmmaking
developed as a part of IMPRINT Documentary Collective's ongoing artistic
research exploring the convergence of the body politic, somatic practices,
and experimental feminist filmmaking in creative documentary.

"Bodies of Water" is an online, 4 week filmmaking workshop where
participants will make their own short documentary film on the relationship
between the body, embodiment, and water(s) of all kinds. Exploring the
intersections of the felt body, the sensorial, movement, the physiological,
and the body politic, this workshop will create a space for collective
experimentation with filmmaking techniques that focus on embodiment and the
body in camera use, editing, and storytelling. The workshop will consist of
a group of participants from all over the world, who will collaborate as a
group on idea generation, feedback and exercises. Participants will engage
in a mixture of live sessions and independent work, each leaving the
workshop with their own 1 - 10 minute film, and as a member of the IMPRINT
Documentary Collective.

RESERVE A SPACE
Up to 12 spaces are available on a sliding scale basis at the link below:

This workshop is suitable for participants of all filmmaking levels, from
absolute beginner to professional. Participants must have access to their
own camera (DSLR, analogue camera, smartphone, etc.). Filmmakers, artists,
researchers, academics, and students from any discipline or area of work
are welcome to join. The workshop is for women, trans, and nonbinary
participants.

ABOUT IMPRINT
IMPRINT Documentary Collective is an international feminist film collective
focusing on embodiment and the body in documentary film. Founded in 2021,
IMPRINT delivers workshops, productions, and screenings to collectively
experiment with the theme of embodiment as a process for making films. Our
collaborations both within the film industry and local communities have
allowed us to reach a wide audience on the potential of embodied
documentary, and our goal is to broaden the representation of marginalised
storytellers by using the documentary medium as an act of radical and
empathic resistance through the lens of the body politic.
